Daisy Green – Fancy bacon rolls

Daisy Green Portman Village

I have been a long term fan of Daisy Green ever since their days as a frozen yoghurt truck eating bacon with caramel sauce to watching them build their empire opening up locations around London. Eating Aussie brunches and breakfast meals with friends at their different locations. Of course, I needed to pay tribute to their original spot Daisy Green Portman Village. Perched on the corner of Seymor Street on New Quebec Street, pink flowers bloomed from the branches outside the door. A bright neon sign with the words Secret Garden Brunch shined brightly welcoming passersby.

Walking into the doors, on the ground floor you see some long benches and high chairs for people who just want to drop in for a hot drink and small snack from their kitchen table counter. Once you tell staff It’s downstairs that will intrigue you and if you won’t decide to dine in for the full menu. Daisy Green Portman Village is a quirky place, a big bunny paper mache sit on the wall, colourful art painted on walls by artist Shuby, and the original cow from their branding in the early days are present. Furniture is a mismatch and each vault has its own personality.

Daisy Green menu

Visiting during pancake week there was a special menu dedicated to the day with Daisy Green famous buttermilk pancakes with a glass of prosecco for £12.50. Daisy Green is very serious about their coffee, with their beans from The Roasting Pantry and coffee order is a must from here, it’s super strong, and aromatics hits your nose. The menu is split into sweet and savoury dishes.  I’ve tried the Bondi breakfast at Beany Green previously and it tasted exactly like the breakfasts I had in Australia cafes.

One dish was calling out for me, the fancy bacon roll and it didn’t disappoint. When it came out from the kitchen you notice it’s not your typical English café style bacon roll. Firstly, there’s a buttery flaky paratha roti, split folded up, and poached eggs on both sides. Back bacon is laden with spring onions, crispy onions, chillis, and a special rich indulging holy f*ck hollandaise sauce. Each bite was loaded up with different flavours and textures making you want more.

The Daisy Green collective has never diaspoint and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to everywhere for brillant tasty food.
