Day 4 Metzingen | Day 5 Fraumünster | Grossmünster | Cafe Schober

Ouletcity Metzingen

The following day since we were in Germany we decided to drive to the nearest outlet to and spend the day at Outletcity Metzingen. Ouletcity Metzingen had a good mix of high end and high street brands. I was after one of the Gucci disco bags for a birthday treat but there was none at the store. I did end up with a Tory Burch clutch bag. There were way too many shops I wanted to go but the boys being boys were anxious to get back. We had some late lunch of Italian food than headed back to Zurich at night.

Fraumünster

The next day I had another free day to explore the city and meet my other cousin for a catch-up. First stop was Fraumünster church back in old town. An entrance fee of 5CF an audio guide device is included. Photography is prohibited inside, besides the stained-glass windows, there’s nothing much to photograph. What I noticed are the other solo female travellers in the churches, and I must say I felt very safe wandering around the city and travelling on the trains and public transport by myself.

Grossmünster

Had a little coffee break before my next pit stop, I read online about climbing Grossmünster top of the church for great city views of Zurich. Entrance fee is 5CF skip looking at the inside and queue up for the stairs. The spiral staircase is 180+ steps plus which felt a lot more than that. It is a long narrow staircase that fits 1 person going up or down. By the second flight sweat drip down my face as soon as I got to the top I made sure I spent time admiring the stunning views of the city. You can see the lake running in each corner view.

After Grossmünster I spent some time in the area looking for souvenirs, I found Switzerland very expensive for everything. The souvenir shop I stepped in sold these musical Swiss clocks that moved and played music. Reminding me of Switzerland centre that used to be in London Leicester Square.

Café Schober

I finally met my cousin up by the lake near the Switzerland museum having a picnic of food, she had leftover. We then headed to Café Schober one of the most adorable century old cafes in the middle of the city with a back-yard court to enjoy tea and cakes. Café Schober is well known for the hot chocolate and they offer lactose-free alternative kinds of milk. The cakes are beautifully presented and tasted scrumptious.
