Shady behavior? Hailey Baldwin seemingly reacted to Selena Gomez‘s new song “Lose You to Love Me” and it was salty. Fans seem to think the former Disney kid’s latest track is about her longtime ex Justin Bieber. The lyrics do seem very particular and mention becoming stronger through heartbreak. A few minutes after the song dropped on October 23, Hailey shared that she was listening to “I’ll Kill You” by Summer Walker on her Instagram Story. Coincidence or nah?
The 22-year-old happened to be listening to a song about doing anything for your man, including fighting off other women. “You don’t want no problems, I wish a bitch would/Tryna come between us, it won’t end up good,” one line reads. Overall, it just seemed like a strong hint toward Selena’s new song — which the internet couldn’t stop talking about.
The emotional track comes after the pop star, 27, took an unusually long hiatus from making music. However, she’s back and laying her heart on the line. Fans thought that she was taking aim at her famous ex, 25, based on some of the powerful lyrics. Verse 2 reads: “I gave my all and they all know it/You turned me down and now it’s showing/In two months, you replaced us/Like it was easy/Made me think I deserved it/In the thick of healing, yeah.”
It’s not surprising Hailey would feel protective about her husband, especially when people never quite got over his on-again, off-again romance with Selena. In March, Justin went off after a troll accused him of marrying the model to “get back” at the “Bad Liar” singer. “Anyone who believes this is mean-spirited or 10 years old or younger because a logical person doesn’t talk or think this way. You should be ashamed of yourself, really. I absolutely loved and love Selena,” Justin admitted in a lengthy Instagram comment. “She will always hold a place in my heart, but I am head over heels in love with my wife and she is absolutely the BEST THING that has ever happened to me, period.”
Whether it’s about Justin or not, Selena stans are here for it. “Thank you for this song and thank you for letting go. It takes real courage to let go of the one who you used to love. I admire you so much,” one person wrote on Instagram. Someone else echoed, “Thank you for sharing your story with us.” A separate comment simply read, “Welcome back, queen.”
Your move, Justin.
