The first London venture of British chef Heston Blumenthal, Dinner won its first Michelin star within a year of opening in 2012, and its second in the 2014 guide.
Centered on historical British gastronomy, Blumenthal – alongside Executive Chef Ashley Palmer-Watts – has spent many years researching dishes from as far back as the 12th Century, reviving forgotten recipes and adding the odd flourish of modern technology.
Standout dishes include the Meat Fruit, based on food illusions at royal banquets during the 12th and 15th centuries, and Tipsy Cake, which harks back to the 17th century when pineapples were first seen in England.
Intriguing and entertaining, Dinner confirms Blumenthal’s status as a culinary magician, where the apparatus is as much a part of the show as the trick itself.
