Imbued with the spirit of couture, Christian Dior’s Rouge Dior Ultra Rouge transforms the experience and expression of lip colour. “Dress your lips like a painter would glorify a canvas [with something that’s] easy to apply and wear,” says Peter Philips, creative and image director for Dior Makeup, of this innovative new lipstick collection.
Dior challenged its research teams to combine highly pigmented colour with 12-hour wear and a hydrating formula, all without any tightening or drying effects, explains Brigitte Noé, director of the brand’s Formulation Laboratories.
The result is the first lipstick that wears like an ink while being extremely comfortable. “Because the formula acts as an overprint,
like an ink tattooing the lips [with] an extremely weightless coloured film, it enabled me to develop new, highly saturated and luminous shades,” Philips says.
Ultra Rouge is available in four shades with a semi-matte finish: 999 Ultra Dior, a classic red; 770 Ultra Love, a rich raspberry; 851 Ultra Shock, a heady burgundy; and 777 Ultra Star, a playful poppy. To complete the Rouge Dior Ultra Rouge look, 000 Ultra Light and 111 Ultra Night can be applied to enhance or neutralise the intensity of the lip colours. Four nail polishes and six lip liners round out the vibrant collection.
