A brand new bar has landed in Soho. Instead of savoury snacks from the bar it’s swapped with beautifully made desserts. Cocktails and desserts! Yes please! Basement Sate is one of a kind in London. Brought to you by co-owner Cathleen McGarry of Sherry Butt Paris. The selection of desserts is priced from £8-£13 opening until the hours of 1am.
Walking downstairs towards the basement bar, it’s dimly lit with dark oak colours and furnishings. Once the music drops a beat you want to start dancing, blasting dance/trip hop, nu jazz/deep house from the speakers. I didn’t quite get the secluded area at the back but if you need the privacy it’s there.
Attending the opening night I was treated to confectionary bite size masterpieces. Superbly done, the mini mille-feuille chocolat was velvety smooth chocolate, with a mouse texture, with plenty of the cocoa concentration. The desserts are designed to compliment the house cocktail creations.
The cocktails conjured by the masters suited the desserts very well, arboricultursit is my match made in heaven. I found myself chewing on the sweet cinnamon barks, floating on top of my drink.
