Duchess Meghan, Prince Harry, Duchess Kate and Prince William Reunite at the Festival of Remembrance

The gang’s all here! Duchess Meghan (née Markle), along with her husband, Prince Harry, made an appearance at the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance on November 9. Duchess Kate (née Middleton) and her husband, Prince William, also attended the annual outing — marking the first joint appearance for the royal fab four since July.

In fact, it seems as though the sisters-in-law are determined to put on a united front despite the personal issues they may have had between one another. “Meghan and Kate certainly aren’t best friends and I doubt they ever will be,” a royal insider revealed to In Touch. “Kate has finally reached out to Meghan to remind her that she’s not alone — being a normal person who married into the royal family, to some extent Kate understands what she’s going through.”

Ultimately, it seems like the niceties only go so deep, though. “They’ll be civil to each other in public, but that’s about as far as their relationship goes,” the source explained.

It hasn’t been easy for Meg, 38, in her first year as a royal and a mother. She emotionally detailed her experiences during the ITV documentary, Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, back in October.

“To some extent, Kate does feel sorry for Meghan,” another source told the outlet about empathizing with the duchess’ struggles. “She has a good heart and isn’t the kind of person to say, ‘You’ve brought it upon yourself,’ but for the most part she’s keeping herself out of the situation. Kate has enough on her plate looking after three kids and fulfilling royal duties. She barely has a moment to herself and tries to avoid drama and conflict at all costs.”

Meg and Kate, 37, aren’t the only ones who aren’t getting along — brothers Harry and Wills, 37, have also been at odds lately. As they assume different roles in the royal family, there has been a bit of a drift between the once-close brothers. But Harry addressed the supposed rift during the documentary.

“Part of this role and part of this job, this family being under the pressure that it’s under, inevitably, you know, stuff happens,” the 35-year-old said. “But look, we are brothers, we will always be brothers. We are certainly on different paths at the moment, but I will always be there for him, and as I know, he will always be there for me.”
