Education makes you understand what you want in life: Aashish Bhardhwaj

For actor and model Aashish Bhardhwaj, cricket, modeling and acting have been three strong pillars of life that have made him understand a lot about life and its lesson. A boy-next-door who did his schooling in Khatauli of Meerut and graduation from IMS Ghaziabad has done modeling campaign for brands Toyota, Myntra, FBB, Sonata and is at present on cloud nine after bagging the character of Mohnish in Ekta Kapoor’s Kasauti Zindagi Kay 2 (KZK2) during the lockdown. In a quick chat with TMM online, Aashish talks about his work philosophy and the importance of education in his life.

Aashish BhardhwajCricket is your hobby, modeling has been your passion, while acting is your profession. What role they all play in shaping you as a successful human?
I think they all play an equally important part in my journey. Cricket made my childhood beautiful and also made me a disciplined person. While modeling has been a way to know the industry and learn survival. And acting is my passion and love, which has made me learn how to dream and achieve it.

We heard that you bagged the role of Mohnish in KZK2 during the lockdown. How did it happen?
I have been working on my craft every day during the lockdown. And I got a chance to audition for Kasauti Zindagi Kay 2. I gave my best shot and by God’s grace, it happened. I guess I could have not asked for something better than this during the pandemic.

When it comes to any role, how do you approach it, and what all preparation goes in?
Every role and character needs a different kind of preparation. There are a few parts that need you to be in that for a while and there are a few parts, which call for experimentation on your part. In such cases, I keep that canvas blank to understand what my director is asking me to do and then prepare accordingly.

Aashish BhardhwajThe never-ending argument about insider and outsider in the entertainment is once again highlighted. What do you have to say?
I believe it all depends on how deserving you are. Be it, insider or outsider, if you don’t have that spark in you, it will never work. The audience is very smart, they will catch you, and then you are gone. So, it is more about how good you are in your craft, because if you are good at it, people would love to see you again and if not, then nothing can change the truth.

You have always been focused on education. What role do you think education plays in our life?
Education is the most important thing. It’s not just about books rather it is a lot more about the atmosphere, surroundings, and change in your behavior. I believe everyone should educate themselves enough to know what’s right or wrong and then do whatever they want to do.

What are your future plans in the industry and where do you see yourself in the next 5 years.
See, I am a person who doesn’t make strong plans. I just work in present. Yes! I want to be someone big in the Hindi film industry but at the same time, I don’t think about it so much that it starts affecting my current work.

Tips you would like to give to budding actors and youngsters from your hometown and highlight of your journey from Khatuali to Mumbai.
Please be honest with yourself. Work every day on your craft, be patient enough to handle rejection again and again.
