My instagram feed has been blowing up with endless photos of Egg Break in Notting Hill their breakfast food on colourful plates. I had the perfect excuse to go to Egg Break since I needed to visit my hairdresser Samantha Cusick over at Portobello Road. I even took part in the viral #mannequinchallenge with the salon. Check out the Instagram video below.
I arrived at Egg Break around 10:30am and got a seat immediately but realised sitting by the door was too cold, and requested to move by the windows instead. They did take a while to clear the table before I moved. It’s a cosy little place with oak wooden tables and cushions to keep you comfy.
If you visit their site, various photos are on display on the screen and it just has links to the menu and social networks. As the name suggests this place does eggs, however, you like it. Breakfast is served from 8-12pm, avocado lovers they do a great avo smash here.
I ordered smashed avocado on sourdough toast and a cup of builder’s tea. The food was whipped up instantly and came before my cup of tea. Even after taking numerous photos of my food the sour dough bread still had the fluffiness without being soggy and edges were still crunchy. The avocado smash is blended up with kale, lime, chilli, coriander lime juice cut through perfectly. The white blankets wrapped around a golden-yellow runny egg yolk. Egg porn for the masses. Even on a single slice of sourdough bread, brunch was very fulfilling. The builder’s tea brew had that strong brew like the cuppa from the local café.
Egg Break is a wonderful place to stop by for brunch; it’s no wonder people from my food community go there. Although the service is quite slow, only two people were looking after upstairs the food is great value.
