Just a lovely 15-minute stroll from the Arc de Triomphe and with the Champs-Èlysèes just around the corner, Hôtel du Collectionneur is perfectly located to explore the city of love. It is the biggest independent 5-star hotel in France with 487 guestrooms, subterranean spa, fully equipped gym, restaurants and bar, a comprehensive business center and meeting rooms that encircle a pretty garden. Despite its size, the Art Deco hotel has a chilled and friendly atmosphere — perhaps because it’s family-owned and –operated. It’s easy to luxuriate on the lobby’s velvet sofas and study the intricate floral displays and artworks on show — each piece of art throughout the hotel was chosen by the Cohen family.
STAY
The Presidential Suite has the same elegant Art Deco style as seen throughout the hotel. There are two bedrooms, lounge and dining room, and a private terrace with exceptional views (you can see the Eiffel Tower as you sip your morning coffee). The master bathroom is particularly special – there’s a Jacuzzi that sits beneath twinkling lights. For an afternoon of private indulgence, get an in-suite massage. If you’re in town on business, you’ll have access to the Executive Lounge. It is as chic as the rest of the hotel and offers snacks and refreshments throughout the day. There’s a decked terrace with excellent views over the city.
RELAX
The Mosaïc Spa is a belowground haven of wellness. The 4,300 sq ft space has ten treatment rooms, a Jacuzzi, hydrotonic bath with massage jets, sauna and hammam. There is an expansive treatment menu, including high-tech facials, cryolipolysis and specialist treatments for mums-to-be. The adjacent gym has everything you need for a solid workout, but if you prefer, head to the nearby Parc Monceau for a customized session with a personal coach.
EXPLORE
The concierge team is stellar — they can essentially arrange anything you want, as proven during my visit. I toured the city in a vintage Rolls Royce Silver Cloud 2 1961 and, despite having seen the sights many times, there’s nothing quite like feeling the wind in your hair as you cruise by the Louvre. If you’d prefer to explore by water, Yacht de Paris specialize in private yacht tours with macaroons and champagne, naturally. If you’re visiting with the family, the concierge can help plan a VIP trip to Disneyland.
DINE
Lying at the end of an illuminated corridor with a black-and-gold floor, the restaurant, Le Collectionneur, is a gorgeous Art Deco space with a green-and-gold color palette, pleasingly symmetrical ornaments and furniture by Italian designer Moroso. Edouard Cohen oversaw the design of the restaurant during the 18-month renovation, and the piece de resistance is the incredible 52-ft sculptural ceiling with intertwining shapes of bleached sycamore. Floor-to-ceiling windows mean the restaurant is flooded with light, and the views are of the lush foliage from the patio’s vegetation wall. The cuisine is delicious and inventive; langoustine ravioli, sea bream sashimi, and ribs with artichokes. The vegetarian options are excellent, too — try the zucchini cannelloni. If you visit in summer, be sure to dine outdoors in La Terrasse. For an aperitif or a nightcap, head to the decadent 1920s-style Purple Bar. Try La Vanille with tequila, vanilla, milk, and black cardamom.
