#WeWillBeBackSoon is the guiding force for renowned Imperfecto, a unit of Bel Cibo Hospitality Pvt. Ltd, which will soon open its door for its patrons. Directors Naresh Madan and Sharad Madan feel that it’s time to get used to the new normal and start living the life to its fullest and make the most of it, because, the lockdown can never go on forever. Also, they feel that the pandemic has united the country and industry at a new level and we need to look at the positives of the situation and bring in the change for betterment. In a quick conversation with TMM, Naresh and Sharad talk about Imperfecto’s preparations and future blueprint to serve the patrons.
The pandemic has affected the Food and Beverage industry in many ways, but with unlock 3.0 things are changing. How do you see this change?
Naresh: India is uneasily but surely coming back to life but in the shadow of the Coronavirus. The food and beverage industry is under tremendous pressure due to the collapsed demand and high rents. For the past few days, people have been finally learning to live with the virus, however; adjusting to the new rules may take some time. Regardless of all, we at Imperfecto will leave no stone unturned to offer a safe environment to our customers at the industry’s best pricing, just like we have been doing for years.
The new normal has many interpretations. What are the rules and guidelines Imperfecto following in this scenario?
Sharad: All our outlets will be completely sanitized at least 10-12 times on a daily basis. Bars, kitchen, doors, restrooms, and high-touch zones shall be sanitized multiple times every hour. A special live-kitchen will also be created so that the guests are mentally satisfied. All our patrons shall be asked to undergo thermal screening. All the kitchen & service staff shall be provided with masks, sanitizers, PPE kits, and gloves to ensure the safety of all.
People are still hesitant to dine out. What would you like to say to your patrons?
Naresh: Stepping out of the house will no longer be the same. Wherever we go, there will be a gun to our head to check our temperature, sanitizer bottles will be our new accessory, and painted circles on the floor will tell us where to stand. These are the new normal we must accept to resume public life because a lockdown cannot go on forever. Also, we all need to be responsible and empathetic citizens and plan our actions to safeguard ourselves and others too. This is what we believe at Imperfecto and abide by and going forward, we will do everything to keep our patrons safe and offer them the best of services within the guidelines issued by the government.
Imperfecto is known for its food, drinks, and liveliness. Are you guys planning any major change in functioning in unlock 3.0?
Sharad: We will do everything we can to secure our customers, even if it means putting a partition bang in the middle of a table. Delivery is a popular tactic as many people don’t want to go out in public unless absolutely necessary so we are coming up with our delivery model.
Last 4 months have been crucial, what sort of help by the government is needed and expected by the hospitality market?
Naresh: The hospitality sector was the first to go down and will perhaps be the last sector to pick up the pace. With an estimated 90 percent of restaurants functioning on lease, recovering rent at a time like this is close to impossible. Prompt action from the government is the need of the hour with the deferment of taxes and force majeure towards rent.
What are your future plans keeping the changing market scenario in mind?
Sharad: We are optimistic and looking at the present market situation, revenue beyond dine-in through curbside delivery and drive-through will play a crucial role for growth moving forward. Innovation, creativity, and reinvention will lead us to a new and exciting future. We are all looking forward to “coming out the other side” and embracing our new normal. #wewillbebacksoon
