Taking her cue from a royal style icon? Check! Emily Ratajkowski was spotted out and about walking her dog, Colombo, in NYC on October 10 — and we really can’t get over how stylish she looked in a sexy turtleneck/blazer combo with jeans. Truth be told, she was really channeling the late Princess Diana with her styling decisions and that made us even more shook over the look.
The 28-year-old model rocked a great gray blazer and white turtleneck duo, complete with bootleg jeans and cognac heeled boots. Believe it or not, Princess Di was known for her love of the tall-necked garment and she definitely dug pairing it with a good blazer. She could be seen rocking a similar look at many a royal function throughout her life.
Of course, it’s no surprise to see the actress latching onto the legend’s style game. In fact, she revealed to Life & Style exclusively that the Princess was a huge inspiration for her.
When she appeared at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic back in June, EmRata told LS about her love of a certain era — and its formative fashion queen. “Kinda going ‘80s. That’s my go-to. Trying to be Princess Diana at every turn,” she dished exclusively.
She also spoke about how she puts together an outfit, including the types of pieces she gravitates toward. “I love a bodysuit with jeans obviously and a blazer is always the best — the most comfortable,” she explained. “I think I really love the idea that bodysuits are something … Judith Light kind of came up with this. She was like you know you start life out in a bodysuit and I’m 70-years-old and it’s my favorite piece still.”
“I think women just undervalue the simplicity of a good staple like that,” she concluded. “I just like the narrative of it taking us through life.” Amen, girl.
