Enchanting tea room hidden in Greenwich – The Orangery

the orangery GreenwichLondon is a fantastic city with access to many things and places to do. The art fund pass card is brilliant for art lovers that love galleries. The membership gives you access to discounted exhibitions and FREE entry to many of the museums. One of the places on the to go list was the Fan Museum. One of my greatest discoveries is the enchanting tea room called The Orangery. Flooded with natural lighting, painted ceilings Japanese style florals. It’s the perfect place to unwind with their afternoon teas.

the orange room GreenwichSince the entry was free with the art fund pass I only had to pay for the afternoon tea. I didn’t opt for the full afternoon tea but just a slice of lemon drizzle with a pot of tea. No one was around for service, I had to grab someone from the back but they accommodated me straight away.

Afternoon tea the orangeryServed up in plain white china wear, the lemon drizzle was airy on the tongue, moist in the middle and sharp. It’s a decent amount, thickly sliced.  The lemon syrup drizzle dried out to a transparent crusty layer.

The Orangery is a real hidden gem in the midst of tourist traps, it is well worth a visit and great value for money in a stunning venue.  The fan museum has a wonderful collection of fans from around the world.
