Everybody dance! The Today show cast brought it with their dance-themed Halloween costumes. From Dirty Dancing to Saturday Night Fever — Willie Geist, Hoda Kotb and all the hosts looked incredible. Some went for major movie icons while others tapped into their favorite TV shows. There were some seriously amazing looks!
The October 31 episode was particularly fun thanks to the fashion show of their costumes. Savannah Guthrie and Carson Daly dressed up as Sandy Olsson and Danny Zuko in Grease. Meanwhile, Hoda did her best impersonation of a different John Travolta character — Tony Manero from the disco-themed Saturday Night Fever.
Willie was the Johnny Castle (a.k.a. Patrick Swayze) to Jenna Bush Hager‘s Frances “Baby” Houseman (played by Jennifer Grey) for their Dirty Dancing ensemble — which included the iconic lift from the 1987 film. The personalities (sort of) recreated the scene in the middle of Rockefeller Plaza in New York City and it was hilarious.
Weekend Today anchor Peter Alexander channeled his inner Kevin Bacon for his Footloose suit based on Ren McCormack.
Not all the costumes were movie-themed, though. Sheinelle Jones paid tribute to Janet Jackson and brought her best moves as she imitated the “Rhythm Nation” music video. Craig Melvin got ~jiggy with it~ and dressed as Will Smith from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Al Roker joined him as Carlton Banks.
Following the TV show idea, meteorologist Dylan Dreyer performed Elaine Benes’ “Little Kicks” dance from Seinfeld.
The Today show crew never disappoints for the spooky holiday. Some of their other themes through the years include Flinstones, Star Wars and the royal family. Last year, they conquered the 80s theme and came dressed as their favorite celebs from the decade, including Madonna, Bruce Springsteen and Elton John.
While it’s a toss-up, we think this year’s theme and costumes were some of the best yet. It was flexible enough that each host could bring their individual taste and personality while also being super fun and a bit silly. Keep scrolling to see photos!
