Visual Meditations

March 30-May 1, 2016

Opening reception with artist: Sat. April 2 5-8pm

Foundry Gallery | Washington, DC

Visual Meditations, an exhibition of works by internationally acclaimed English painter, Lindsay Mullen, marks her solo debut in the United States. The artist’s work is a direct response to the light and atmosphere of places she has lived and traveled, and aims to capture the fleeting moments that cause one to stop and contemplate; an international and conscious pause from the chaotic world.

226931“For onlookers,” said Swiss gallery owner Ellen Richard, “these paintings possess a special liveliness reflected in a style of painting rarely seen today with this degree of potency.”

Her unique, pared-down impressionist style subtly and skillfully draws the observer into a meditative space, offering a sacred place to lose oneself, as new details unfold with each occasion for observation.

“Through her eyes,” said British curator Philip Collins, “muted green, blues and ochres give us an almost spiritual insight into light and shade.”

Mullen recently moved to Washington, DC from Menorca, Spain, where she lived and worked for more than 30 years. She has had some 50 solo exhibitions in Spain, the U.K., France, Germany, and Switzerland.
