Fabric Garden is World’s First 3D Surface Textile

Fancy a garden on the outside of your home’s walls but can’t manage a trellis at your 25th floor apartment? Well this innovation might be for you. The Fabric Garden is the first-ever 3D hyperbolic surface textile, created by Taiwan Textile Research Institute TWO+LAB of Taiwan. Composite fibers substitute soil, creating a green module ideal for planting anything from thriving small farms on family balconies to plants that green building exteriors. The soft textile surface and modular frame can be adapted to either a flat or curved exterior, allowing easy creation of large living walls. Fabric Garden modules are also fitted with a water supply system that can be connected directly to water channel modules for regular irrigation, allowing designers to play with diverse planting layouts. The Fabric Garden is a recipient of the 2015 Design Mark award in the Product Design category of the annual Golden Pin Design Award in Taiwan.
