Vanderpump Rules alum Faith Stowers reflected on being the only black cast member on the Bravo TV series during an Instagram Live broadcast with Floribama Shore star Candace Rice on June 3, noting the experience was “a lot.”
“I felt like after their friend did something that we both were involved in that he’s done like, a thousand times, they wanted to attack me instead of him. They wanted to attack, attack, attack, attack, attack,” Faith, 31, explained. “I was wrong, I was this, I was that, calling me names, saying my hair was nappy, which is weird coming out of their mouths.”
The Georgia native was a regular face on season 4 of Pump Rules. During the premiere of season 5, the cast found out Jax Taylor had cheated on now-wife Brittany Cartwright with her.
“I think it was just because they felt like Brittany was so sweet and it hurt her,” the Ex on the Beach alum added. “But even then, it was like they both cheated on their partners with him as well, so I was just really like confused that they were attacking me and giving him nothing — in my opinion. He got off very, very, very easy — especially with the things I’ve been told.”
The Challenge alum also revealed she was uncomfortable with the fact she was never able to do any confessional interviews to tell her side of the story surrounding what became a huge scandal that season.
“It could be different on their end, but in my opinion, I thought it was weird that everybody on the show got to do interviews and confessionals and I didn’t even get a chance to do that, to tell my story,” she said. She noted her story was “interesting” because she was a black woman in the military. She added she didn’t feel the cast “appreciated” her work with the U.S. Army.
Aside from Tina McDowelle, who had a recurring role on seasons 1 and 2 of the series, Faith is the only person of color to have a leading role on Lisa Vanderpump‘s hit program. None of the show’s cast members have responded to Faith’s comments.
Additionally, the network has yet to respond to Faith’s comments. However, they did make a statement in support of Black Lives Matter on May 31. “Bravo stands in solitary with the Black community against systemic racism and oppression experienced every day in America,” read their social media statement. “We owe it to our Black staff, talent, production partners [and] viewers to demand change and accountability. To be silent is to be complicit. #BlackLivesMatter.”
