Famous Felines: Celebrities’ Cats

Earlier this year, we posted a series of images of our fave stars with their pets; here’s a subsequent feature on celebrities and their feline friends.

If your first question is why we are doing a list with cats, well the answer is simple, dear reader: that’s what the internet was invented for. A global funnel to record images and videos of cats and corral them into one mega terabyte.

The “crazy cat lady” trope no longer exists (there’s a New York Times op ed, if you care to google, on the anthropological benefits of having a pet cat). Can’t take our word for it? Take the musings of stars from the worlds of fashion, music and movies instead, who’ve all rescued or adopted cats and given them an extraordinary life in the lap of luxury. Follow their Instagrams for more details.

Karl Lagerfeld

There are few people on Earth, let alone cats, who live life in such extreme (some might state excessive!) luxury as designer Karl Lagerfeld and his pet Choupette.

Ricky Gervais

Gervais’s Instagram is mostly images of his cat Ollie – named after one half of his comedic heroes Laurel and Hardy – in various states of slumber. “I quite like it when she bites me, because it’s her letting me know that she used to be a lion.”

Taylor Swift

Swift has two Scottish fold cats, Olivia Benson and Meredith Grey, named after popular television characters the singer loves.

Ian Somerhalder

The actor has a charity, the Ian Somerhalder Foundation, that, among other causes, helps rescue animals. His pet cat is named Moke.

Miley Cyrus

Our former cover girl has loads of pets including multiple cats, dogs, fishes and even a pig. We have our eyes on her cat, the very serene sounding Shanti Om.

Amanda Seyfried

The star of the recently released sci-fi thriller film Anon houses kittens until they find permanent homes, so we aren’t sure which is her cat and which have been adopted – but let’s just state that this dog-owner is also a cat person.

Martha Stewart

The queen of Connecticut / Americana / refined living has three cats: Bartok, Princess Peony and Empress Tang.

Gigi Hadid

The supermodel’s relationship with singer Zayn Malik keeps changing, but not her pet concerns. Cleo Hadid, a rescue cat, has been her constant companion since 2015.

Godfrey Gao

Gao has rescued several cats and has mentioned in interviews that he has “a thing” for them – he’s constantly posting images of himself with discovered cats.
