Tistabene Fashion is a retail e-commerce portal for fashion and home accessories and the brand is a one-stop-shop for all millennials needs. Founded by Jaipur-based young entrepreneur Siddharth Darda, Tistabene, in recent times, has become really popular with their customers who depend on it for all their fashion needs. From accessories to casual shirts, kurtas and home decor products like cushions, ottoman stools, cushioned sofas, and more, the brand works with a team of highly-skilled craftsmen with a promise to deliver goods of unmatched finesse and exceptional design. In a chat with TMM, Siddharth shares his vision for the brand and how he intends to achieve it.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your interests?
From the start, I have been very passionate to build something great from scratch and the will to push to the limits to achieve big goals. I am a big fan of football – playing as well as watching it. Born and bought up in Jaipur, I have always been influenced by Jaipur culture and craftsmanship, therefore, it also showcases our design. Also, our entire branding revolves around it.
What’s the story behind starting Tistabene?
Rooted deep in the culture and lifestyle of the pink city, Tistabene was born out of this once quaint town that has royalty written all over it – now, a blend of urban royalty and modernity. The story began with an enterprising thought of bringing and providing quality where it was lacking. So, it started as a fashion jewellery brand that had the essence of traditional roots of opulent jewellery as well as qualities of minimal modern, aspirational fashion.
There is a lovely story behind the name as well. Can you share that with our readers?
The name Tistabene came into being from a sweet encounter. While we were busy brainstorming and looking for a stand-out name for the brand in one of the libraries in Jaipur, one Italian gentleman walked up to me and saw the bracelet which I was wearing. It was one of the sample accessories of the brand, and he exclaimed “ti sta bene!” and looked at it closely. We asked him about the meaning and observing that he struggled in English, we looked it up in an Italian to English dictionary. It said “Looks Good On You” and that is where our search came to an end.
You started as a fashion jewellery brand. Why did you feel the need to venture into other areas of lifestyle?
We started as fashion jewellery brand but our vision was always of a fashion portal. That is the reason we registered in all areas of fashion. We had a jewellery background and experience of more than 15 years in the jewellery industry, so we started our journey with it. Once our jewellery venture was settled, we expanded into areas for which we already had a vision.
Currently, what are some of the products that are part of the Tistabene portfolio? Are there other areas into which you plan to expand?
Lately, we have expanded ourselves into a lot of segments starting from jewellery. We launched our apparel range and now recently we have launched our home and living range. We are looking to add more and more verticals every day. We are coming up with a new range of trousers which would be unique, and there are many more things lined up for the future like kitchenware.
Where do you source your products from? Do you work with your own craftspeople?
We have our manufacturing units for most of the things we make. Our craftsmen are highly experienced and well-trained. We take full safety as well as proper measures for their well-being.
When a customer buys something from Tistabene, what can he look forward to in terms of quality and experience?
We founded our company on the need for quality. We at Tistabene believe in high-quality measures, and our customers buying from us can close their eyes and trust us on that. This is the reason why our return percentage is less than 2 percent which is very low compared against industry standards.
Going ahead, what is the future you envision for your company, say five years down the line?
Tistabene’s vision is to become a fashion and lifestyle brand with creative responsibilities that appeal to maximum people. Fashion and the latest lifestyle trends are not something that should be inaccessible. We want to make it accessible and try to bring a fresh take on them, season by season. Tistabene is on the road to becoming a brand that will create not just fashion and lifestyle products but a holistic experience. A piece of story and premium quality in every aspect, be it jewellery, apparel, home furnishings, furniture, and accessories.
