Fergburger
When I was asking for recommendations on where to eat in Queenstown, New Zeland. Fergburger was on the top of the list, renowned for their prime beef burgers and no trip is complete without having one of these. They also offer the usual chicken, lamb and not so usual exotic meats. Fergburger started as a hole in the wall down an alleyway before making a permeant residence on 42 Shotover Street.
Location
Fergburger is so dammed busy all day and night long, located in the central part of town on Shotover Street. The queues for the evening was long, don’t worry it will be worth the wait. Next door is another popular Ferg franchise Fergbaker serving up pies, bread and bakery goodies. Another one to add to the checklist. Checking the menu online, our party already knew what we wanted in advance.
Interior
By the time we got to the entrance, we were lucky to get some seats outside. The tills and kitchen are literally next to each other, ordering food at the tills, you get given a ticket. Take the time to admire the interior, and the photographs hanging on the walls.
Food
Eagerly waiting for my order being called, picking up that brown paper bag. I took it outside, grabbed as many napkins as I can know what was about to go down.
Ferg Deluxe burger
Unwrapping the branded grease paper, the burger is bigger than the palm of the hand. Lettuce greens and slices of finely cut onions start to fall out. It’s a simple but great burger, nicely seasoned patties, beef meat juices explode out your mouth, all enclosed in a toasted sesame bun. You can’t help but eat messy whilst handling the burger. Aioli & tomato relish, smeared on the edges of my mouth.
Fries, on the other hand, is a little underwhelming over salted, cooked until a light golden yellow, warm not piping hot.
Fergburger is a must-visit for tourists and locals alike. Guarantee to have queues no matter what. If the weathers nice get a takeout and enjoy your meal by the lakes and beautiful mountain scenery.
