Gaucho
If you’re in the mood for a meat feast and lively atmosphere, we think Gaucho might be just what you’re looking for. A special Christmas menu has been specially devised to satisfy hungry diners – we’re talking free-flow starters, sides and desserts, with the choice of one main, too. What’s more, drink packages are also on offer – bottomless champagne, anyone? We’re eyeing up the mouth-watering selection of foodie treats on the festive menu. From tuna ceviche to perfectly-cooked Prime rib-eye or slow-cooked braised lamb shank, this is one eatery that’s bound to have everyone leaving blissfully happy.
Operetta
Looking for a more casual but equally delicious way to tuck into Christmas fare, with nary a turkey in sight? You’ll love the sharing menu at Pacific Place’s contemporary Italian eatery, Operetta. The well-stocked bar and comfortable bench seating makes this an immediately inviting choice for a terrific group meal and, this month, Executive Chef Luca de Berardinis has dreamed up a festive feast with something for everyone! We’ve picked out a few favourites from the specially created menu; marinated swordfish, traditional cappelletti and tiger prawns with lentils, for starters. The full menu is broken into four sections – antipasti, pasta, main and dessert – and is made to serve 3-4 hungry mouths, so grab a few friends and make this your next evening stop.
Ho Lee Fook
If there’s one place you’re always guaranteed good times, it’s Ho Lee Fook. This cha chaan teng-inspired eatery boasts an energetic atmosphere that’s perfect for larger groups and is a clever choice for your festive celebrations. Once you’re past the wall of Fortune Cats and open kitchen, head downstairs to a restaurant that’s filled with electric art and pumping music, for a modern taste of Chinese dining. We’re planning on booking in for New Year’s Eve, when the 8:30pm dinner sitting rolls into a throwback karaoke session. Food-wise, expect taste-laden sharing dishes filled with fresh, fragrant ingredients – we love the sound of steamed grouper with shiitake mushroom, jamón iberico and abalone sauce, and the Kurobuta pork char-siu. Wash it all down with three hours of free-flow sake, whiskey green tea, vodka and beer when the music starts, and you’ll soon be singing into the microphone with total abandon.
La Rambla
This recently-opened Spanish-inspired eatery is the newest concept from Hong Kong tapas resto, Catalunya, which closed its doors earlier this year to make way for its younger sibling. Based in ifc, La Rambla is a brilliant option for fun and festive group gatherings thanks to the casual space and expansive terrace with views that stretch out over the harbour. Christmas brunch is as much for the little ones in your group as anyone else, as Santa himself is due to host, although with fresh oysters, suckling pig and paella, we’re pretty convinced you’ll all be pleased. And if you’re still searching for that perfect New Year’s Eve location, La Rambla is where it’s at; a 6-course tasting menu split between two sittings will see Chef Ferran Tadeo bringing tapas classics alongside more modern Spanish inventions to the table. Plus, we’ve got it on good authority that with 400 bottles of Spanish wine on the menu (yes, really) there’s bound to be a tipple you’ll love. So, whichever day you choose to head over to La Rambla’s stylish and welcoming digs, you’re sure to let the seasonal stuffing commence in delicious style!
