How many brands can claim to have impacted so many facets of style from sports to music to pop culture? The list is a short one and FILA is at the top. This year, the iconic sport style brand is celebrating its 110th Anniversary, which means over a century of leaving an unforgettable cultural imprint.
To commemorate the milestone, FILA dropped a series of collaborations that paid homage to the brand’s Italian roots. This year alone, FILA launched capsule collections in partnership with MSGM and Acqua di Parma, in addition to specially designed on-court fashions for FILA-sponsored tennis players who competed in the season’s final Grand Slam in New York.
Next up is the launch of the 110th Anniversary Collection, a line that both celebrates the brand’s extensive heritage and sets a benchmark for the future. Katie Grand, the pioneering stylist, journalist, and cultural curator, lent her creative lens to the commemorative collection. According to FILA, “Grand explored FILA’s rich history in sport and reinterpreted a series of archival styles. The pieces she selected have been reissued and redesigned with a contemporary update. Items reflect the innovative spirit of FILA, as they tell the story of the brand’s epic moments and the legendary individuals who transformed sports and fashion.”
Of note, are a selection of pieces inspired by the world of skiing, made with Piacenza Cashmere, and constructed in Biella, Italy, the birthplace of the brand. Included are re-editions of classic sweaters, like Snow Time, Argyle, and White Rock styles, which grew to cult-ish prominence in the late 70s and early 80s. You can also expect to see FILA’s iconic ski jacket, the all-time 90s staple, make an appearance. Included on all of the pieces is FILA’s classic F-Box logo along with a special embroidered patch celebrating the brand’s anniversary. Only 500 units of each piece were made, so die hard fans should jump fast.
The FILA 110th Anniversary Collection will launch on FILA.com beginning October 26th,
and in select multi-brand stores worldwide.
