The last chance to dine at Copenhagen’s Michelin-starred Noma restaurant have come and gone.
Noma, led by Danish chef René Redzepi, has been named world’s best restaurant four times by the organizers of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards.
The reservation for final seatings between November 2016 to February 2017 was opened on Monday, 10am CET. Unsurprisingly, all seats have been booked in several hours. Those who are still keen on getting a seat before the restaurant closes for good can still take their chances and add their names to a wait list should there be any last-minute cancellations.
Noma’s frenzied demand is reminiscent of the demand for seats at Ferran Adrià’s restaurant elBulli, which also closed its doors at the peak of its popularity back at 2011. The Cala Montjoli restaurant had received more than two million reservation requests for 8,000 available seats. Redzepi himself was actually an elBulli alumni.
Meanwhile, it may be the last chance to dine at the original Noma, but it’s hardly the last opportunity to sample Redzepi’s cuisine.
The next iteration of Noma has been in the works for the past year or so, with plans to open a farm-to-table urban restaurant that will be themed after three food seasons: seafood, plants, and hearty winter meats and forest foods.
