Lil Nas X has come a long way since “Old Town Road,” and now the rapper and musician is set to release his debut album MONTERO next month.
The rapper (and Highsnobiety Frontpage Star!) has an affinity for starting conversations on social media and is one of the only stars who really understand how to use TikTok. From duetting videos to revealing sneak peeks of upcoming songs and previous samples, Lil Nas X has grown a massive following not only because of his music but also largely due to his personality.
creating this album has been therapy for me. i’ve learned to let go of trying to control people’s perception of who i am, what i can do, and where i will be. i’ve realized the only opinion of me that really matters is my own.

In his latest music video for “INDUSTRY BABY,” he made a joke out of his recent lawsuit from Nike, following his “Satan Shoes” in collaboration with MSCHF. The limited-edition Air Max sneakers were famously filled with blood and retailed at $1,018 each as a not to the Bible verse Luke 10:18, and caused quite the social media frenzy.
Yesterday, skateboard legend Tony Hawk put 100 skateboards for sale for $500 each, which were all infused with the athlete’s blood. It quickly started a conversation on Twitter, with many noting that Tony Hawk didn’t see any outrage or backlash, whereas Lil Nas X received an overwhelming amount of hate.

The singer has also been vocal about the negativity he’s met with on social media, particularly for his openness about his sexuality. He famously came out as gay whilst “Old Town Road” was topping the Hot 100, and has since continued to speak openly about his sexuality which frequently riles up the worst boomers on Twitter. Most recently, they were all VERY upset with the rapper’s “INDUSTRY BABY” music video which pictured Nas X dancing with a handful of naked men, and before that, they were angry about him giving “the Devil” a lapdance in “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name).” One thing is for sure, and that is that he loves to add fuel to the fire – and we’re so here for it.
let’s fuckin go gay agenda!!!! https://t.co/3RfXFJlQqz
