Yeh, you heard it all. Common wording “woodfire ovens”, pizza from Naples, thrown at you. There’s a lot of these types of pizzerias popping up in London. Franco Manca, Pizza Pilgrims, who have been successful. That’s tough competition to beat, here in London. Firebrand Pizza is different, left to prove for 48 hours using Caputo flour from Naples. Pizzas are cooked in an oven that reaches 400 degrees. Pizzas are cooked in 90 seconds flat. Just like another pizzeria I reviewed Pizza Buzz.

Is a joint idea by Guy Holmes and Bibars-Ozdamir. Firebrand Pizza covers 42 seats and you can see the gigantic oven as soon as you walk in. Staffs were extremely friendly seating my friend in corner.
We started with a bottle of still water whilst skimming through the menu. The menu on offer is simple, antipasti, non-pizza, pizzas, salads and desserts.
We ordered some soft drinks, mine was homemade lemonade that had the perfect balance of sweet and sour rolled into one.
My friend is a huge lover of cheese and immediately said we needed the cheese platter. Every since I’ve tried burratta at Pizza Buzz it’s become a go-to dish I order wherever I see it. We also ordered Tuna Carpaccio (£7).
The sight of tuna carpaccio and the multiple slices of fish you get on the plate were more than usual at other places. Usually, raw tuna has this sour off taste, but this one had none of that. Capers perfected the balance along with the oil and rocket leaves.
Bresaola Burratta (£6) is a dome-shaped curd, waiting to be broken into. It’s extremely creamy milky soft cheese with no real strong aromas. It comes with slices of ham and tomatoes.
The cheese board (£7.5) came with Taleggio, Fontina, Piedmonte Blue Cheese, Ricotta, Pecorino. The waiter describes each cheese very well and talked about freshness, and fermentation. I’ve learned that I favour soft cheese and the journey of tasting notes showed me different characteristics.
Now on to the mains, we both had a pizza each. The pizza had a great blister bumps and I could hardly taste the sourness. Mine had parma ham, roast potato, rosemary, mozzarella, (£15) before you tuck in you have a choice of different flavoured infused oils to drizzle on top. It’s the first time I had roasted potato on a pizza and they were generous on the parma ham slices.
My friend went for the August special pizza had Nduja and Ventricina Italian Sausage, Mushrooms, Truffle Oil, Tomato. (£13) A little too spicy for me but he enjoyed it.
After a good 15-20 minutes, the waiter tempted us to desserts. The chocolate one I can not find on their website is incredibly good for my sweet tooth without it be overbearing. I can only describe it as a cross between, a soufflé, brownie bottom with a molten melting chocolate sauce waiting to be erupted, occupied with a scoop of vanilla ice cream
Their homemade tiramisu is one of the best I’ve tried, Firebrands versions almost taste like custard in one of the layers, the sponge is soaked in coffee and cream is layered inside a jar.
