Want to find out more about some of the finest international whiskeys on the market? We recently caught up with whisky writer and commentator Ian Buxton, author of ‘101 World Whiskies to Try Before You Die’ at London’s Whisky Show, to get his views on some of the very best.
From Dublin’s historical Green Spot to sweet Kentucky bourbon in the form of Jefferson’s Presidential Select, we traverse the globe to bring you the crème de la crème of one of the most diverse and exciting spirits around.
“All the traditional countries are expanding, they are growing,” says Buxton, “but what we are seeing is a new world of whiskeys. For example, whiskey is being made in France, it’s being made in Belgium, it’s being made in Finland.
“Almost anywhere you throw a stick at you are going to find somebody making whiskey. The quality varies, (but) some of the good is very very good indeed.”

We also have a special treat, the expert mixologists at The Roof Garden’s Babylon Restaurant in Kensington show us how to make the Coquettier – a take on the classic Sazerac, one of the first ever versions of the classic ‘cocktail’.
