Food News: Brewery Openings, Food Truck Parties, and More

Palm Beach Gardens is throwing a pre-Thanksgiving feast on Saturday, November 21 when the food trucks invade for Eat to the Beat on Mainstreet. The free festival will feature 13 of the areas best mobile kitchens, tunes from three funk-infused acts, as well as some adult beverages for the 21-and-up crowd.

Flow Tribe - Eat to the Beat on Mainstreet - Midtown Palm Beach Gardens

Setup along Mainstreet in PBG’s Midtown, the party will run from 4-9 p.m., with New Orleans band Flow Tribe (pictured above) headlining the event. Miami bands, The Spam Allstars and Magic City Hippies will round out the live entertainment. And while this is largely an adult type of party, there will be plenty of activities for the kids, with stilt walkers, face painting, and more slated to keep the younger crowd happy.

Featured Food Trucks:

  • Burger Time Food Truck, CheeseZilla, Conch Shack, Crave-It, Dawgs & Wiches, Dolce Gourmet Cupcakes, Ice Cream Express, It’s A Cubano B, Parabas Grill, The Sinful Sandwich Company, Spring in – Roll Out Food Truck, Sweet Daddy’s BBQ, Mobstah Lobstahs

Civil Society Brewing Company - new brewery opening in Jupiter - Abacoa Town CenterIn other North County food and beverage fun, Abacoa’s own Civil Society Brewing Company will open its doors on Friday, November 20 to a very eager Jupiter crowd. Owned an operated by former Marlins pitcher Chris Volstad, his cousin Karl, and childhood friend Evan Miller, the brewery located in Abacoa’s re-emerging Town Center has long been in the works—permits, licensing, and inspections to open a brewery are an absolute bear—and will open just in time for the Thanksgiving rush. Long a standard on the local craft beer festival circuit (their brown ale and pale ales have made a name for themselves), Civil Society has slowly perfected their beer recipes out of a low-key warehouse off Tony Penna’s industrial scene. The Abacoa brewery is the fruit of all this hard labor: a 5,400-square-foot brewery and taproom featuring an industrial chic look, and serving a selection of handcrafted beers, as well as wines for the oenophiles. Check in soon for more about my new neighborhood brewery, but for now, raise a glass and see Friday. Cheers!

Accomplice Brewery & Ciderworks - West Palm Beach brewery and cider pressIn more fermentation news, West Palm Beach’s Accomplice Brewery & Ciderworks opened its taproom on November 6, marking a first for Palm Beach County. Breweries, as mentioned above, are beginning to sprout throughout the county—to much adulation to the drinking public. But for those with strict gluten-free restrictions, there are pretty slim pickings, which is why Accomplice is such a welcome addition to the fermenting circles here in town. As the only cidery in the county, Accomplice is creating a niche that has begun to pop-up at watering holes throughout the county, well before the taproom opened its doors—Accomplice handles on tap trees are becoming the norm around town. As for the ciders themselves, the strawberry cider offers an interesting twist on the apple-made standard, while Accomplice’s Golden Cider is the perfect intro for those new to cider: a dry, not overly sweet sip that leaves a slightly sour/sweet aftertaste.

  • Located off Florida Mango Road in West Palm Beach (1023 N Florida Mango Rd.), Accomplice’s taproom is open Friday, 3-9 p.m.; Saturday, 1-9 p.m., and Sunday, 12-7 p.m. For more information, visit accomplicebrewery.com.

Palm Beach Food and Wine Festival - Grand Tasting at The Gardens MallWith the Palm Beach Food and Wine Festival slated for December 10-13, the biggest news of the annual food fest is its grand finale. The ninth annual Grand Tasting is packing the mobile kitchens and headed to Palm Beach Gardens on Sunday, December 13, and setting up shop at The Gardens Mall. The larger, climate-controlled venue is allowing the party to expand—actually, it’s doubling in size—making it the biggest party of the four-day festival. The best part? We have two tickets to give away.
