Former Bachelor Sean Lowe Weighs In on Why Other Couples From the Show Are Splitting

He got lucky! Former Bachelor Sean Lowe says there is “a ridiculous set of circumstances to meet your fiancé” on the reality dating show.

“I think the success rate is pretty high considering the circumstances,” the season 17 star exclusively tells Life & Style while partnering with Gillette for their Father’s Day Campaign available at Target. “Most people don’t live in the same city, you don’t have to deal with real-world circumstances will you’re on the show, it sets you up for a crash landing so to speak.”

This could explain why so many Bachelor Nation couples — like Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph or Peter Weber and Hannah Ann Sluss — have called it quits as of late.

That’s not to say people don’t know what they’re signing up for. “There is going to be a handful of people who are going to be there to stir up drama or be there for good TV. There is going to be a handful of people there that are essential matches for you,” explains Sean. “At the end of the day, if you decide you want to propose to someone or if you decide you want to accept someone’s proposal that’s up to you from that point forward. I don’t think it is ABC or The Bachelor‘s fault if your relationship doesn’t work out.”

The Dallas native has one of the major success stories from the franchise. He and Catherine Giudici got engaged during the finale, married a year later in 2014 and now have three kids together. Sean admits there’s “no secret,” but they have mutual love and respect for each other.

“I think I truly found my best friend in Catherine, so that is kind of at the bedrock. I just enjoy being with her and that has never wavered or changed, so I think that makes marriage a lot easier when you’re married to the person you want to be around the most,” the author gushes while adding that their “faith” also “plays a big factor.”

Despite their reality roots, Sean notes he and Catherine are “just like any other” couple. “We have our ups and downs, but we know neither one of us are going anywhere. We’re going to work on our issues, and if someone is upset about something, we’re going to work through it and work it out. Ultimately, we love each other,” he says. “That is what marriage is all about so yeah, there is really no one secret, that’s just what worked for us.”

All Bachelor couples could take a page out of Sean’s playbook!
