Fountaine Pajot to Display New MY 40 at Singapore Yacht Show

Fountaine Pajot staged the world premiere of its MY 40 power catamaran at this year’s Boot Dusseldorf and will stage the Asia premiere at the Singapore Yacht Show (April 11-14), where it will also display the Alegria 67 and Lucia 40 sailing models.

Daniel Andrieu handled the hull design of the new MY 40, while Pierangelo Andreani Studio was responsible for the upper decks and interior.

The MY 40 slips in between the 37 and 44 models in the French builder’s range of power catamarans. The yacht has an overall length of 12.2m (40ft) and is almost half as wide, with a beam of 6m (19ft 9in) and a draft of just 1.1m (3ft 7in).

The three-cabin cat offers large exterior and interior spaces, with Fountaine Pajot describing the flybridge and owner’s suite as the largest of any boat in its class.

The aft cockpit is completely covered by the flybridge overhang and has a wide, L-shaped sofa and a table. The saloon starts with an aft galley to starboard, while to port are a large fridge and the stairs to the master suite (in the Maestro version).

Forward, the large lounge features a portside dinette with C-shaped seating and a foldable dining table, while to starboard is storage, a pop-up television, the helm station and stairs to the two guest cabins. The saloon offers expansive views through almost-continuous windows forward and along both sides.

Downstairs, the master suite to port has a transversal double
bed facing the window, while spacious bedside cabinets sit above a step that helps access in and out of bed. There’s a small desk beside the window, while forward is the closet and en-suite bathroom, with separate head and large shower.

The two guest cabins in the starboard hull comprise an aft double and a forward cabin with twin bunks. Both rooms have hanging space and share access to more cupboards in the hall and a bathroom.

Accessed by curved stairs from the aft cockpit, the spectacular flybridge has a hardtop with a sunroof, and comfortable seating for at least six around a starboard dining table. Forward is the driving station, while to port is a double-width sunpad and a wetbar.

The foredeck is another superb outdoor area, featuring a recessed lounge with forward-facing seating and two sunpads with adjustable headrests.

Power is from twin Volvo Penta engines of 300hp or 370hp, coupled to an IPS400 transmission or the optional IPS500.
