If I utter the word Ladurée, people should know whom I’m talking about. If you don’t, then it’s a true sin. The Parisian tea room is renowned for their macaroons and delightful pastries. My friend “W” came from all the way from Holland to visit me, and she requested we get a table at the Harrods branch.
Ladurée at Harrods, is truly an elegant breath-taking chic looking place, with it’s beautifully surroundings it gets you right in the mood for lunch, tea whatever your having.
I opted for the 3 course set lunch for £38.50, there’s a large selection of treats to pick from the menu.
The entry course was a trio of diced apples moulded into circular shapes topped with fresh raw seafood. The seafood tasted fresh with all their natural flavours and the sharp acidic apple was the perfect palette cleanser.
My mains I had mix feelings, for one the mash had the weirdest texture. Outside it was almost hard, and tasted powdery. The beef came in a reddish silver-grey colour, some pieces were delicious, and some were too sweet. The flavour somewhat reminded of Chinese BBQ pork, sweet and salty.
The heavenly pastry of choice had to be the perfect ending to the meal. A gorgeous berry sponge with fresh light raspberry mouse, topped with luscious fresh fruits.
Overall, the food was ok I expected more as I was über excited to eat French food. The starters executed better than the mains. There’s no doubt the award-winning desserts were better than food. Ladurée at Harrods is a perfect place to relax for tea and desserts. Yes I shall be returning for afternoon tea.
