The evolution
In my opinion, a professional evolves with his hard work and great mentorship. While the former can be worked upon any day, the latter is very important from the very beginning of the career. And I guess I was lucky enough to have the best of bosses and mentors who not only guided me but also stood by me. It was an amalgamation of all that, because of which today I stand high with good quality work, name, and fame.
Producer’s call
As a producer, it is very important to strike a balance between your clients, team, and product you are working on. In filmmaking, it is very important that your pre-production, production, and post-production is in place, then only the end product will look perfect. Also, it is important to understand the value of a team. If you have a disconnect with the team, it reflects in your end product and that might make you lose a client. So, it is very important to understand the value of the team. Also, I always make sure that people associated with me and my company receive their payments on time, as this is one thing that we Indians take for granted.
Turtle Talkies
After a roller coaster ride as a full-time employee in various firms and then an ugly partnership business, in 2016 I started Turtle Talkies and I will say I have had my own share of ups and downs, unbelievable projects and at the same time the best of partnered evens. So, it had been a learning shift for me and my vision for Turtle Talkies is to make it the perfect virtual company. Here, we don’t believe in long working hours and I always promote a balanced work-life balance and I am very optimistic about my vision that will turn into reality very soon.
Clients matter
Sadly Indian and NRI clients treat creative people as a cheap labour. And when it comes to payment they go worst. Whereas the international clients have the sensibilities and they allow you all the creative freedom. Moreover, in case you fail to ask for the dues, they are the ones who initiate and make sure that you receive the payment on time.
Future file
For me, it is very important to do content driven creative work and I vision the same for Turtle Talkies. I am optimistic about good corporate work, short films, and even outsourced production work, where we get a chance to show our creative side and open a new gateway for the company.
