After a year of conception, the Flux collection by Hong Kong-based design duo Ed Ng and Terence Ngan was unveiled in April at this year’s Salone del Mobile in Milan. The pair partnered with Czech manufacturer of contemporary glassware, Lasvit, to create the serene collection. The Flux lamp (pictured) was inspired by etches left on the shore by receding tides and the way that light reflects off the ocean in shallow water. Each lamp is hand-blown in lead crystal and individually shaped around a hand-carved timber, ensuring every piece has its own unique appearance and texture. The transparent top section has interior and exterior layers of gold and platinum to trap and deflect light, and the result mimics the movement of water in motion.
