Friday night was the Inter-Club Great Gatsby Ball at the Royal Overseas League. ROSL was the perfect setting for the event; the art deco interior creating the ideal backdrop, the garden awash with the evening sunlight, and the smooth sounds of the jazz band playing while we drank champagne and feasted on a delicious buffet.
I donned my flapper dress, draped myself in pearls (fake ones - there was no way I was wearing the real ones with alcohol in my glass and my dancing shoes on...), and applied a thick layer of my favourite red lipstick (Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick in Shade 107). The men looked rather dapper in their black tie, and all the other girls wore the most amazing dresses - there was a good mix of flapper style ones and 1920's gowns!
I must confess I don't remember much hence the lack of photos. The champagne seemed never-ending, as soon as I'd finished my glass it was being topped up by the very efficient waiters! After dinner we headed inside for dancing and dessert, the DJ was excellent and we all had great fun dancing the night away.
After dancing a little too crazily I felt woozy and needed air, so some friends accompanied me and a plate of cream cakes to the balcony, where Lotte and Dan decided to grab the cakes and shove them in my mouth to stop me from passing out. Lotte missed my mouth, and my face was covered in cream cake, as you can see below. Lovely. It was such a crazy night it really did feel like a party at Gatsby's!
I woke up the next morning with dried cake on my face, and then had to get ready for afternoon tea with the girls at the Royal Automobile Club, before birthday drinks at the Palace! How incredible is the view by the way...!?
I can't really post any other photos for obvious reasons, but it really was a lovely evening!
Also the Lavender Creme Brulee at the Royal Automobile Club is in-credible! If you're a member or know someone who's a member, definitely try it, it's delicious!
What did you get up to this weekend?
