Gucci’s first foray into home décor last year left many of us disheartened that it won’t be stocking in Singapore. However, the much coveted homeware line finally launched in stores this month with chairs, porcelain vases, mugs, tables, candles, foldable tables, trays and more added to the debut line.
Guccify your home into a luxury living space
The Gucci Décor collection showcases Alessandro Michele’s penchant for flamboyance. All of the patterns, colours, designs and decorative tropes were adopted off the house’s catwalk, reimagined for furniture and home accessories. Geometric patterns from previous fashion collections found new life on folding partitions and silk wallpapers while the jacquards from the ready-to-wear collections end up as the upholstery for the drawers.
Among the new pieces are the medieval era-inspired porter’s chairs commonly used in olden times, injected with a touch of modernity by using leather or velvet. The maison Creative Director Alessandro Michele, who previously exhibit interest in interior design expressed flair in designing the homewares by making sure that Gucci décor not only makes a strong decorative statement but also carries a practical notion.
With its craft deeply rooted in fashion, the concept Gucci has behind this décor collection is likewise to their fashion philosophy – to dress and re-dress with ease. Likewise, there is no dedicated area for the Décor Collection within Gucci stores, placing emphasise on the idea that these pieces are simply another way to dress in Gucci, they are spread throughout Gucci store interiors, integrated with clothing, accessories and shop fittings.
Gucci Décor is available in Gucci flagship stores and boutiques and online at gucci.com, and in selected specialty stores starting July 2018.
