After ambushing locations in Manchester and Leeds with their pick of the best of Northern streetfood, the Guerrilla Eats gang are popping up at Camden Town Brewery for their first ever London event.
On the 29th of March they’ll be bringing a whole host of traders to the Brewery Bar for a day of foody, beery fun and turning our cobbled street will turn into an impromptu marketplace for the hottest flavours North of the border. Stay all day and sample the street food stylings of Fire and Salt BBQ, Dirty Dogs Are Hot, Drum and Baste, Original Patty and You Doughnut with plenty of beer to pair ‘em with. We won’t be doing any tickets or tokens, and you don’t need to book in advance, just turn up and chow down.
In anticipation for the big day itself, we caught up with Sean from Guerrilla Eats to ask him a few questions about street food, Manchester and coming down to London.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU GUYS BEEN IN THE FOOD TRADERS BUSINESS? – We’ve been trading for just over 18 months but the interest in what we do has picked up over the last 12 months since we started our guerrilla eats events. Guerrilla eats was born when ourselves and Mal (Fire & Salt BBQ) decided we’d had enough of having few places to trade in the city and the existing events weren’t about the quality of food that we wanted to trade alongside.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CAMDEN TOWN BREWERY BEER? – It has the be the camden pale for me, it works really we’ll with our dogs and even soaking sauerkraut in it for toppings is great.
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOUR NOT COOKING OR PLANNING GUERRILLA EATS? – When we’re not all trading or organising guerrilla eats we’re either at our day/night jobs, spending time with family or out and about sampling new traders or the new eateries that are popping up all over manchester at the moment. The city is getting more and more food orientated, and I’d like to think we’re part of that movement.
WILL THIS BE THE FIRST TIME GUERRILLA EATS HAS BEEN OUTSIDE OF MANCHESTER? – We’ve worked with events and festivals to provide traders but this is the first time that we’ve specifically done a guerrilla eats event outside Manchester and working with the team at Camden was far too good an opportunity to miss. We’re really excited to show off the great traders we work with.
WHAT TYPE OF FOOD WE YOU BE BRINGING TO THE BREWERY? – Trader wise you’ll definitely be seeing us aka Dirty Dogs, we’ll be bringing our fine franks along with some great topping combinations and the guys from Fire & Salt BBQ will be bringing their real true pit barbecue flavours, personally I’m hoping they bring the brisket. We work with a wide range of traders from burgers and dogs to Indian street eats and ice cream for grown ups so there’ll be something for everyone, we’ll be announcing traders soon so keep an eye on Twitter @Guerrilla_Eats.
