Let’s be honest, 2016 has been far from spectacular. For one, the grim reaper seems to have been doing such a good job that we think actually deserves a bonus for all that hard work. Jokes and painful memories of what has been truly an intolerable year, some lucky ones have little to complain about. One such individual is Scarlett Johansson who had been named the 2016’s top grossing actor by Forbes.
Thanks to her roles this year in movies such as “Sing”, “The Jungle Book”, “Hail Caesar!”, and “Captain America: Civil War”, the actress has helped rake in a total of US$1.2 billion in ticket sales. Tying for second place, are her Civil War co-stars Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr., who raked in US$1.15 billion. The commercial hit, which had a major role to play in their final tally, also became the top-grossing movie of 2016 with US$1.15 billion.
Other actors who rounded up the top 10 in the list, included several stars of “Suicide Squad” such as Australian Margot Robbie in fourth place with US$1.1 billion, and Will Smith who secured the final spot. The comic book universe had several more entries with Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds in eighth place at US$820 million. Others joining the potty-mouth spandex clad superhero are “Batman v Superman”s Ben Affleck with US$1.02 billion and Henry Cavill with US$870 million securing sixth and seventh spots respectively. Amy Adams who plays Louis Lane snagged the fifth spot with US$1.04 billion while Rouge One star Felicity Jones with US$805 million.
