It’s a good day to update your playlist. And you’re in luck, because it’s Friday and a new edition of Highsnobiety Soundsystem 50 is here! This iteration of HS50 is packed with the hottest new releases, bangers, big chunes, and good vibes. Tune into this 50-track-strong musical treat below, and while you’re at it, learn a bit about just what makes this week’s releases so extraordinary via our curator’s top picks:
Nigo – Arya (ft. A$AP Rocky) – Nigo’s back with a single from his first solo album in 17 years. The BAPE-founder recruits A$AP Rocky to flex over the piano-punctuated beat (his friends Pharrell and Cudi also star in the video). And in style, Nigo premiered the song at first show as creative director of Kenzo. Suave.
YG – Scared Money (ft. J. Cole & Moneybagg Yo) – YG, J. Cole, and Moneybag Yo, that’s a constellation that you need to hear and it’s as impressive as you think. And the catchy hook of the track says it all: “Scared money don’t make no money.”
Quavo – Shooters Inside My Crib– My favorite Migo just shared a new solo track. Quavo skates over the Ayo-B-produced beat effortlessly teasing us about an upcoming project.
King Von – Don’t Play That (ft. 21 Savage) – We’ve got another gripping King Von track, this time featuring 21 Savage. The song comes ahead of his posthumous album, What It Means to Be King, and over a year after King Von’s death. He previewed the cut on Instagram back in October 2020, just a month before he passed.
Pinkpantheress – Reason – Jarreau Vandal Remix – Leave it to Pinkpantheress to surprise drop a remix version of her celebrated debut album with a brilliant curation of DJs and producers. This updated version of “Reason” by Amsterdam-based wunderkind Jarreau Vandal gets a punching beat and more grit is my personal favorite.
