There are few beauty frustrations greater than having your perfectly salon polished manicure chip a few days after the salon visit. (Right, ladies?). I eagerly jumped on the gel polish wagon for this reason when they first came onto the market, but after a while I had some concerns about constantly having gels on my nails. So I decided to switch off between regular polish and gel to give my nails a break.
I have been going to Bellacures nail salon forever, as they’re just about the only ones I trust with my nails. As the holidays approach, I wanted to figure out how I could make my beloved Bellacures manicures last longer, whilst I would be using my hands a lot more. From cooking, to decorating the Christmas tree, to wrapping presents, our hands do overtime this time of year, and I wanted to figure out hacks to make our polished nails last longer.
I spoke to Bellacures, and it turns out that if the right steps are taken, regular polish can last more than a week. Here are a few tricks I learned from Bellacures to keep your nails perfectly polished all holiday season long.
-
The Easy-to-use Tape Dispenser is Your Best Friend
- When wrapping gifts, use an easy to use tape dispenser to avoid picking at the edge of a tape roll, or use something small like a paperclip to keep at the edge of the roll so you never lose it!
-
Dish Duty
- When washing dishes post Holiday meals, use rubber gloves as water can cause polish to lift off the nails.
-
Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!
- Use hand cream at least twice a day. Dried-out nail polish is more likely to peel off nails. Also, avoid hand sanitizer because it drys out your hands and nails.
-
Add Glitter
- If your nails already have a chip on the tip, add some festive flair with some glitter or a french tip to cover it up.
-
Keep it Fresh
- Keep your manicure protected and looking fresh by applying a fresh top coat every 2-3 days.
