Aren’t girls funny? We sometimes want to apply makeup . . . that looks like we’re not wearing makeup? Existential beauty crisis aside, the off-duty model, the “no makeup makeup” look is here to stay. After all, au natural has always been, and probably will always be, my favorite look. This look directly goes against the typical “Instagram” beauty looks we see a lot of today — super bold brows, full coverage matte foundation, winged liner, glitter eyeshadow, you know what I’m talking about. Of course, it is fun to do that (I am guilty of a full face sometimes) but the every day I think, should be natural and effortless. “No makeup makeup” is basically the bare minimum, focusing more on the skin (insert: Caviar & Cashmere Skincare) and the steps of application, rather than the number of products.
I have broken down the best tips and tricks for this natural trend as well as rounded up my favorite products to get you there quick and easy.
1. Skin First
This look is all about glowing, natural skin. Easiest way to get that? Actually have glowy, natural skin by caring for your face. I recommend using all three of my products to begin — Caviar & Cashmere Clarifying Cleanser, Caviar & Cashmere Regenerating Serum, and the Caviar & Cashmere HydraLuxe Creme.

2. Prime
When you’re going for a minimal look, a primer is the easiest way to get a smooth base. You can cater your product choices to what kind of look you’re going for or your skin type. A pore filling primer will smooth and fill any pores without clogging them the way a thick foundation might. An illuminating primer will add a glow and will make you look more hydrated.
3. Skip Foundation
Steer clear of thick, full coverage foundations for this look. I would personally just skip foundation all together. Tinted moisturizers, BB and CC creams give your skin some extra hydration and still allow some of your freckles, redness, and imperfections to shine through. After all, is is natural to have imperfections. Apply with a buffing foundation brush to cover more, or with a sponge to keep the dewiness.
4. Lightweight Concealer
If you’re still not used to letting your blemishes, redness or dark circles go completely uncovered, you should then use a lightweight, hydrating concealer. Blend with your fingers – the warmth of your skin makes the product go on smoother and more naturally.
5. Cream > Powder
Creams make everything blend and sink right in, and creme tends to look a lot more natural than powders do. You can blend a cream bronzer and blush with a damp sponge for a super natural, flushed look.
6. Unruly Brows
My favorite part of this look? Bushy, unruly brows are both accepted and ENCOURAGED. Enhance the beauty of your natural brows by simply using a brow gel with fibers and brushing them up and into place. I like to skip mascara and just curl my lashes here.
6. Pink Pout
Lastly, opt for a lip stain over a lipstick or lipgloss to maintain a natural looking lip, and blot any excess product with a tissue. Stick with light pinks and nudes.
