For the girls who want to master style, no matter where they are, I am with you. I love a good beach vacation, but I also love a good outfit. I’ve learned you don’t have to sacrifice style while on the water. Getting a beach look right can be tricky, especially if you want to remain sophisticated while otherwise scantily clad in swimwear.
I love styling outfits for a tropical locales, as it lets me think outside of the box. Mixing and matching patterns is totally acceptable on the beach, as is getting colorful and playful with your looks.
I cannot always find what I am looking for when shopping for beach outfits if I stick to searches like “coverups” and “beach dresses” online. Rather, I prefer to get creative and put together looks that might not be so straightforwardly for the beach. Repurposing dresses that can be worn as coverups and using accessories that you may even keep strictly for fall such as waist belts, can be unexpected and super stylish.
This summer I discovered a beautiful brand called Marie France Van Damme, which is a luxury resort wear collection based in Hong Kong with stores all over the world, from Beverly Hills to Morocco to Singapore. Each piece is beautifully crafted and tastefully designed, allowing you to wear it on the boat, the beach, or dinner after. I personally have been wearing her pieces all summer long, as they are easy to pack and translate so well, all over the world.
Here are some other pieces from designers which I am also loving for the summer that are sophisticated and chic for the pool or beach.
