1. Practice Self-Care

The kids are back in school, the holiday season is just around the corner, and the hustle and bustle is in full effect. This month, find relief from your day-to-day routine with exclusive Spa & Wellness Month offerings. With discounts available on health-focused happenings ranging from laser therapy to classic mani-pedi services, there is something to satisfy everyone’s need for a little R&R. For a complete list of Spa & Wellness Month promotions, click here.

2. Visit Your Local Farmer’s Market

Downtown West Palm Beach’s beloved GreenMarket has returned for the season. Beginning October 6, Palm Beach residents and visitors are invited to graze the outdoor market every Saturday through mid-April. Beginning at 9 a.m., more than 90 vendors will set up shop at the waterfront and offer an array of specialty items including baked treats, vegan snacks, local produce, home goods, and much more.

3. Attend a Philanthropic Feast

Enjoy a flavorful five-course menu with wine pairings prepared by a team of Michelin-starred chefs at this year’s Flying with the Stars Dinner. On October 19, eventgoers will gather at EVO Italian to participate in a silent auction, experience culinary excellence, and raise funds for this year’s local benefactor, The Perry J. Cohen Foundation. For reservations please call, 561-745-2444.

4. Raise Breast Cancer Awareness

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Palm Beach County has taken note. Throughout the month, various eateries will offer delicious ways patrons can make an effortless (and delicious) impact. Avocado Grill will donate $2 from each sale of The Pink Melon to Susan G. Komen South Florida, and Ouzo Bay will donate $2 from each sale of its Mastiha Mojito to Boca Regional Hospital’s cancer programs. Participating restaurants also include localgreens, The Locale, Taverna Opa, and Yakitori Sake House.

Palm Beachers can continue to raise awareness by participating in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K Walk. The event will be held in Boca Raton on October 14 and West Palm Beach on October 27. Click here for full details.

5. Get Fit

There are few things more relatable than the dread that foreshadows a redundant workout routine. This October, get inspired by Palm Beach’s health and wellness happenings. Throughout the month, CityPlace will host Wellness Wednesdays, a free series dedicated to health and movement. The third week of October, downtown West Palm Beach will welcome District Fit, a three-day fitness festival that will feature more than 15 free group workouts, holistic seminars, nutrition workshops, and much more. For District Fit’s full event schedule, click here.

6. Explore a Plant-Based Lifestyle

What was once perceived as a trendy diet has evolved into a lifestyle and movement. As a prelude to Seed Food and Wine Festival, South Florida will celebrate clean eating with the First Annual Seed Food and Wine Restaurant Week. Now through October 15, diners can enjoy deals at vegan eateries throughout Palm Beach County. For a full list of participating restaurants, click here. If you find yourself craving more cruelty-free options, snag a reservation at Farm to Hilton: A Vegan Dinner on October 18.

7. Attend a Spooktacular Event

Celebrate the spookiest month of the year with some of the Palm Beaches’ most festive highlights. For family-focused fun, don’t miss Boca Raton’s Pumpkin Patch Festival, the Palm Beach Zoo’s Boo at the Zoo, and Fletch’s Fall Festival hosted by Loggerhead Marinelife Center. Those looking for something creepier can opt for events like Moonfest and Clematis by Fright. Whatever your age or tolerance for gore, save the date for classic events like Boynton Beach’s Pirate Fest & Mermaid Splash, the Historical Society of Palm Beach County’s Harvest Festival and Scarecrow Contest, and Shriek Week at Sugar Sand Park in Boca Raton.
