Hard work, determination, and passion can make anything happen. If you think that these are just words, let us tell you that Shoriq Parvez is a living example who has proven that nothing is impossible when nurtured with the above-mentioned attributes. With a successful career in modeling and acting, the young-age actor wishes to be remembered for his passion, skill and acting. TMM asks about his success journey and the biggest takeaway.
In college when everyone was busy focusing on academics, you were busy in gymming. What was your guiding force in taking bodybuilding so seriously?
Bodybuilding has always been an inspiration and motivation for me in life. The changes it got in me as a person, lead to my growth and where I am today! So the growth has been my force for this, I guess (smiles).
Tell us about your first ramp walk. How was the feeling? Now when you look back, how do you see your modeling career?
I’d like to be honest and tell you that I was nervous, but I had confidence and knew that the confidence which I’ve got through my personality will get me through. So, it was a mesmerizing feeling, and today when I look back, it feels satisfying. I always had a feeling that modeling as a career would be very interesting as I will have new experiences.
Shifting to Mumbai was a big step. Tell us about your struggle days, how did you keep the passion alive?
So I shifted to Mumbai with all the dreams in my eyes without any clue. I had no contact in the industry, so it all started with the support of my parents. I started with what I knew, I rushed to the gym, got my entry done for 6 months, and started sharing an apartment with some other strugglers. I started with the auditions, though it took me 2-3 months to be stable and settle down, as Mumbai is a fast city, I started learning how this city works. I had to do my chores myself- cooking, cleaning, etc. After a year, I started earning and I stopped taking money from my parents. Oh! The pleasure it gave me, my family was so supportive that they took care of my finances for a year. The thing that kept me going was the support and love of my family and my loved ones. They never gave up on me and I had to do the same for myself if people believed in me there was no chance that I shouldn’t believe in myself.
How did Punchbeat happen? And how was the experience of working for Alt Balaji?
I had a firm determination that I will try till last and I guess that is what worked along with my destiny. I used to give a lot of auditions and with time people started remembering me and I believe I’m quite capable of leaving a mark, so Punchbeat happened to me just by the luck and destiny. One of the members of Lostboy production called me up and asked me to send my folio and I believe that was it! As far as experience is concerned I believe it the best one so far. And as I’m doing the next season, I believe it is going to be another beautiful experience.
Shoriq Parvez,What do you love more modeling or acting?
I believe acting because it has given me good exposure, opportunities, and a lot of new lessons in life. For me, being an actor means feeling everything deeply, because you represent a personality you are not and it helps in self-growth!
Shoriq Parvez,Your biggest learning in Mumbai, which you would like to share with aspiring actors and models.
The biggest learning in Mumbai for me is- Survival. I know that no matter what the circumstances are, I’ll get through and thrive because all I need to do is to be focused and do what I’m supposed to do. When you’re away from your family and friends in a strange and competitive city, just follow your dreams and keep them alive, never give up. It’s not like that I wasn’t distracted, but I got myself together and got hold of everything before it went out of control. While working with Ira Soni, I learned a lot about the professionalism actors hold and how it helps you grow. I want to be a perfect actor so that the director doesn’t have to do a retake when I’m in front of the camera.
Your biggest dream as a professional?
My biggest dream as a professional is to be known for my acting. Acting is an art and I want to be known for it. I want to reach the heights where Nawazuddin Siddiqui (sir) is, he has been my inspiration for a long time now. Being a professional, I want people to remember me for my acting and for my noble nature.
