Known for their unique culinary concepts, Icebox Cafe Miami is a hotspot for a bite to eat with friends and family. For almost 20 years, their sophisticated and comfortable design as well as their freshly made seasonal cuisine has propelled Icebox Cafe to become one of the area’s top go-to restaurants.
Icebox serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, world-famous dessert (our favorite) and weekend brunch. In addition to being known for their mouthwatering cakes, the cozy and inviting atmosphere of the cafe attracts diners from all over the world. VUE recently had the opportunity to visit Icebox Cafe and we were blown away by their fresh culinary delights, insanely delicious desserts, and fun environment.
At Icebox Cafe, the basics are what make the dining experience so enjoyable. Their fresh, natural, well-balanced, and quality ingredients are carefully plated, ensuring that both flavor and presentation are exquisite. The cafe features and an array of seasonal choices that hit high notes for all diners, not matter your preference. From a lunch of Faroe Islands Wasabi-Crusted Salmon paired with Pad Thai-style vegetable quinoa, to delicious Middle Eastern-style shrimp for dinner featuring green charmoula, yellow lentil dal, tomato chutney, sautéed spinach and farro, the possibilities are endless. Pair any of these delicious entrees with a refreshing spirit from their full bar—like their Old Fashioned Boost Russell’s Reserve with bourbon, acai-pomegranate reduction, Bittermens Burlesque bitters and brandied cherry, yum.
However, where Icebox Cafe Miami really shines is dessert. The restaurant is known for producing outstanding, hand-crafted treats and cakes, all made from scratch with the finest ingredients available on the market. After just one visit, it should come as no surprise that Icebox Cafe is known as one of Oprah Winfrey’s favorite dessert places. The Oprah Winfrey show even claimed that Icebox serves some of the best cakes in the country. Their 8-inch delectable Coconut Buttercream Cake is a fan favorite, layered with light chiffon cake, soaked in a sweetened coconut milk, layered with a coconut pastry cream, finished off in a lovely pink buttercream, and covered in coconut shavings. The history of Icebox Cafe is built on these to die for, award-winning cakes which are created by owner Robert Siegmann, a former New Yorker who has been baking since his adolescent years. Tucked over on Purdy Avenue in Sunset Harbour, Icebox Cafe Miami is a must-visit culinary delight when visiting South Florida.
