In good spirit- Ihana Dhillon

Ihana DhillonIhana Dhillon, an Indian actress who has worked in both Bollywood and Punjabi film industry, talks about her journey and association with social initiatives.

How did acting happen to you?
I never thought I was going to be in this industry. I was working part-time as a model in New York along with my studies, that’s how my career started. I had to shift to India for a family emergency but I continued my modeling career here. During those days I took up an acting course and enrolled in Berry Jones. I signed my 1st Punjabi project “Daddy Cool Munde Fool”. That’s how my acting career started and I never looked back.

When it comes to taking up projects, what is your guiding force?
I try to do different roles in every project I take up. When I read the script, it should touch my soul. Acting is my passion, so I won’t say I’m only looking for commercial movies. I would like to explore this industry as much as I can, so I’m looking for more challenging roles to play.

You have worked in Bollywood and Punjabi movies too. Which one is more challenging and why?
Yes, I have worked in both the industries. One thing I can tell is that shooting for a Punjabi movie was much easier for me as it is where I belong to. There is a lot of competition in the Bollywood industry, so sometimes it gets difficult to be up to the mark constantly. If you love your work then it doesn’t matter which language you are shooting, you will feel comfortable. As of now, I have worked only in these two languages but I would like to explore more areas.

You are very active in social initiatives. Tell us your association with it.
Yes, I would like to do as much I can do for the social causes. I am associated with an NGO called “World Cancer Care” in Punjab. As cancer is very brutal in Punjab, I feel it’s my responsibility to contribute in whatever way I can. I actively take part in “Veerangna Punjab Club”, a women’s only club run by my elder sister in a village which works for the betterment of rural women and children. I’m also planning to work with anti-drug activists.

If not an actress, what would you have been as a professional and why?
I don’t think I ever wanted to be anything else other than an actress. In my childhood days, I used to copy Madhuri Dikshit (ji).  I was always passionate about acting but it used to feel like an untouchable area for me. I never even dreamt that I would be seen on a silver screen one day. I guess I was destined to be an actress and now it’s my responsibility to carry it forward.

Would you ever like to participate in reality shows like Big Boss? If yes why, if not, why?
No offense, but I’m not a reality show fan. It might be difficult to believe this but I don’t watch any of the reality shows.
