Apoorv Vij, How have 7 years of theatre experience shaped you as an actor?
Theatre has given me a strong foundation of acting. Theatre has made me understand the importance of body language in acting. Emotions and dialogue delivery are better highlighted once you practice theatre. It not only helps you explore the unexplored or hidden ability to act but also helps in shedding the inhibitions associated with performing in front of an audience. I feel that theatre is a must for every aspiring actor.
Apoorv Vij, How did acting and modelling happen to you?
I was always hopeful about pursuing acting as a career since childhood. But I never had the time to pursue it, as I was busy with studies and badminton. I have been a national badminton player. Generally, sports look like a cake walk to the world, but in reality, it calls for sheer commitment and dedication. Badminton took a part of me and I loved it. With time things changed and it was kind of self-realization and I left my corporate job and made a shift to Mumbai to live my dream!
Apoorv Vij, Tell us about your upcoming projects.
I have recently finished a web series with Percept Pictures called ‘BREAKING NEWS’, where I am playing the protagonist. Rest I am in talks with many production houses. Things are in the shaping stage. Once finalized, I will announce the same. In the last couple of months, I have realised that the online means of entertainment has opened doors for many creative writers who had been lacking because of the scarcity of scope.
As an actor, what scares you the most and why?
To be honest, I don’t expect or think of any repercussions of being an actor. The only thing which I feel is to give my 100% justice to whatever character I am playing or project I am involved in. We often fail to understand that acting is a journey of learning and not a destination where you have to reach. I try to live every moment of being in front of the camera and my everyday motive is to learn one new thing every day!
Fitness seems to be an integral part of being an actor. What is your regime to keep the mind and soul fit?
Understanding the benefits of physical fitness and knowing how active you should be can help you maintain good health and improve your overall quality of life. Numerous studies have shown that regular physical activity increases life expectancy and reduces the risk of premature mortality.
Personally, I try to create a balance between gymming and yoga for body and mental fitness.
Do you think reality shows are a great way to grab attention for celebrities?
It is very subjective to say whether reality shows can help you grab attention or not. To an extent it does, but you also need to understand the format of the show and how far you are comfortable in revealing your private life. If you are ready to make your personal life a matter of public discussion, then reality shows are definitely your piece of entertainment.
Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
I see myself as a stress buster, who entertains people by his acting performances and at the same time play the role of a responsible citizen who raises voice against wrong via his performances. I want to reduce the stress of people in today’s world.
