The Story Behind IHO
Before launching IHO in 2020, both Rohit and I were deep into research for several years. Our research involved us having to trek back and fro from the Himalayan mountains, connect with various key players of the economy, sit with the farmers, and understand the plant from its roots, quite literally.
Learning to realize that Hemp can be used as a source to further create up to 25,000+ different sustainable products, we decided to step into the health and wellness space first. Why health? Well simply put, in a country that has 1 in every 5 people suffering from depression, and 1 in every 15 people dying of cancer, there had to be a better alternative.
But it also dates back to a personal story. During our research phase, and much prior to the launch of our brand, Rohit’s friend’s grandmother was suffering from metastatic breast cancer. On a daily basis, he was a prime witness of watching her body get weaker as the many side effects of chemotherapy started to creep up every now and then — nausea, vomiting, nerve problems, pain, mood changes, etc. At that point, her life condition didn’t leave her with several options to choose from, and the family was open to trying anything that could help ease 
her suffering. That’s when we witnessed our first live study on all the remarkable changes CBD oil was able to bring about in her pain response, mood, inflammatory levels, and locomotor activity. Though she is not with us anymore, the quality of life that she lived after starting her cannabis medications was greatly enhanced. She wasn’t suffering anymore, she could move around, and her last weeks were lived by her to the fullest. Shortly sometime after this, in the year 2017, I met with a life-threatening road accident that broke my cheekbone, severely injured my knees and joints, and my condition made me incapable of consuming any eatables for a period of 2 weeks. During this time as well, I was administered CBD oil for my chronic pain which led to faster relief, better mental well-being, increased appetite, and greater feelings of relaxation.
This incident incentivized us, even more, to research medical cannabis, its interaction with human physiology, and how it can help alleviate several symptoms in suffering patients. Our research led to us discovering a system that’s inherently present within every mammal’s human biology — the Endocannabinoid System (ECS), that works with a primary objective of restoring balance in your body, or in biological terms, “homeostasis.” This system essentially governs the functioning of all the other systems in one’s body and was named after the cannabis plant itself, because of the interaction of the plant with the ECS’ receptors. To sum it up, our human body was naturally designed to benefit 
from this plant. Who could have guessed, right?
And in that effort of ours, we found Cannabis, a wonder-crop that works to benefit all of one’s mind, body, and soul, while also giving back abundantly to the environment and the planet.

The Challenges
When we first launched our range of products that were all made using the Hemp seeds and focused primarily on food and nutrition, we were always asked the same questions again and again-
“Will this get me high?” “Is it addictive?” “Is it psychoactive?” It’s been quite a journey from then to now. At present, we have a clientele of mothers that feed their toddlers hemp seeds to kickstart their 
nutrition from an early age, our oldest customer is 90+ years old, and even pregnant women consume the hemp hearts, etc. so it’s definitely safe to say our efforts of educating, building awareness, and breaking stigmas around the topic have somewhere been fruitful.
IHO’s Process and Offerings

At IHO, we work towards re-creating the way cannabis is consumed and perceived within India.

From the Hemp leaves, we formulate our medicinal range called ‘CannaBliss’, which comprises full-spectrum cannabis leaf oils catering to various ailments such as neurological problems, pain management, insomnia, side-effects of chemotherapy, and promoting daily well-being of the mind and body.
The CannaBliss wellness range comprises of oils such as Pain Relief, Stress Buster, Sleep Well, and Balance. These are all oral medications that can only be consumed post a prescription from a certified Ayurvedic doctor. On our portal, we also have a board of well-renowned Ayurvedic doctors, and are currently working with several entities in the medical fraternity to build up academia for mass awareness and education to the people.
We also have a personal care range that’s meant for topical application only and does not require a medical prescription. This includes oils that are formulated using the Hemp leaves. These have shown results in helping patients that suffer from joint pain, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, inflammation on the skin and body, skin ailments such as acne, pigmentation, dry skin, etc.
And through the Hemp seeds, we make our nutrition products that comprise of Hemp Hearts, Hemp Protein Powder, and a multi-purpose Hemp Seed Oil.
