‘Sustainability’ is one of the most widely-used buzzwords that is being tossed around the cultural salad that we live in today, and now it applies to your wardrobe too. But what exactly does a sustainable wardrobe entail? Well, rather than buying into fast fashion and quick trends or styles, it’s more about transitioning your wardrobe to reflect quality pieces that will really stand the test of time.
Doing just that is Hong Kong-based wellness travel expert and Founder of Compare Retreats, Dervla Louli, who uses Asia's first digital wardrobe service PAKT to prolong the usable life of her clothes — in particular her wedding dresses.
How would you describe your style?
It’s always changing. One day I’m in a colourful midi dress and Golden Goose flats and the next I’m in all black. I love investment and statement buys.
What’s your wardrobe philosophy?
I like to be able to see everything clearly so it’s organised but full.
What do you think of fast fashion — should we be preserving our clothes more?
Buying less and buying better is something I live by. I prefer to have less things that I love a lot. Also as I get older I prefer to collect experiences instead of things. So, I tend to buy less in general.
Why do you like using PAKT?
Barbara’s knowledge was what drew me to PAKT. [Barbara Yu Larsson is the Founder and CEO of PAKT] Her team came to pack up everything carefully. The service was easy and convenient to use too. I trust her and the team to take impeccable care of my clothes and I can call them back at a moments notice.
What are you storing with PAKT now?
I’m currently storing my wedding dresses because they are so special and hold a lot of memories for me. So I’d like for them to be stored and cared for properly by professionals.
