Gwyneth Paltrow has some pretty interesting lifestyle habits that she shares on her lifestyle website Goop. Ever since the site started eight years ago, it seems people just love to hate the award-winning actress for her practices and The Daily Mail may have joined the list. We must admit that some of the tips do skirt the border of crazy town — Stephen Colbert seems to agree— but to each their own. The team behind the site have taken it in their stride, with a little good humor and continue to endorse treatments such as the infamous Mugworth v-steam.
The latest Goop related piece of news to have made the headlines once again is the breakfast smoothie that Paltrow is said to start her day with every day. At what The Daily Mail estimates to cost around $223, we can certainly see why. Now before we join the crowd to cast stones at the actress, it should be noted, that the price tag reflects the total cost of all ingredients.
Containing staples such as almond milk, almond butter and coconut oil, there are several ingredients that would raise eyebrows. Items such as Maca, Ashwagandha, ho shou wu, cordyceps and the “Moon Dust” that are said to stimulate sexual flow, “nourish sexual vigour” and enhance creativity, all of which are slightly more difficult to find. Each jar can cost anything from $17 to $65, which adds up to a total of $200.
Upon hearing news of this, Vanity Fair, came to Paltrow’s defence and helped to break down the cost of each serving, which is somewhere around a more palatable range of $10. For instance, while a 2-oz jar of Moon Juice Sex Dust may set you back $60, the recipe calls for one teaspoon, which works out to be $4.50 — the most expensive ingredient in the recipe. Now if only there was a Goop-y way for me to get legs for days like Paltrow….
