Editor’s Notes: Between collaborations with RETROSUPERFUTURE, Mackintosh, and Dr. Martens, Samuel Ross and A-COLD-WALL* have been busy creating the ultimate brutalist uniform this year.
It would appear that Ross’ collaborative streak is yet to taper off, as images have surfaced via Dr. Martens Instagram of the third iteration of its ACW partnership.
Where the first pairing saw Ross give his take on the iconic 1460 leather ankle boots, the second collaboration – which landed just last week – took the low-top 1461 as its canvas. The “Graphite” coloring was unlike anything DM’s had brought out before it, marking a diversification of color options as well as designer-led aesthetics.
The latest option to appear is an alternative take on the 1461. This time around, black leather takes the place of “Graphite” in the same blocking scheme, maintaining the strong lines, paneling, and silver hardware detailing across the sidewall. It appears that the signature zipped-tongue also remains, while the DM’s signature yellow stitching creates a heavy contrast to the blue iced sole.
Nike fans will be all too familiar with iced-soles, but they look to be a new addition to the Docs arsenal, with six new smooth leather 1461 colorways arriving atop them this season.
While an official announcement about further colorways or silhouettes from A-COLD-WALL* x Dr. Martens are yet to be made, it’s interesting to see the partnership expand on the success of previous releases.
