Congratulations are in order! Iskra Lawrence gave birth and welcomed baby No. 1 with her longtime boyfriend, Philip Payne. The model announced the arrival of their child on Sunday, April 19 via Instagram.
“I’m beyond overwhelmed to tell you baby P has arrived and me and daddy @philipapayne are taking time to be in awe that we are now a family of three,” the 29-year-old wrote in her announcement. “When I’m ready I cannot wait to share more details with you all on my home birth and this tiny human that we love beyond measure. I cannot thank you all enough [for all] of the love and support through this journey.”
The Aerie model went on to reveal her family is “all safe” amid the global coronavirus pandemic. She added that she and Philip are “in heaven” with their new bundle of joy. Iskra also explained that she has to make a “huge decision” about how much to share about her new child with followers on social media because she’s “feeling super protective” and doesn’t want her child to ever grow up and feel that they were “overexposed.”
The couple first revealed they were expecting in November 2019. “It’s not just the two of us anymore, we’re soon-to-be a family of three,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “Right now, we’re 17 weeks and three days pregnant.” Later that month, Iskra got candid about the pregnancy and revealed it wasn’t planned. It turns out, she was on the pill.
“I even freaked out when I found out I was pregnant because I was still taking it!” the mom of one admitted to Violet Benson during her “Too Tired to Be Crazy” podcast. “So like the first two months of my pregnancy, I was still taking the birth control — bearing in mind it wasn’t like 9 a.m. every day and I traveled.”
She continued, “So me and Philip reckoned that when I would do long call flights from say from L.A. to London, you kind of skip a day so maybe it was that, but still I just assumed my body because I was on it for 11 years I would have to, and people say that right? That you have to decide to stop taking birth control, give it like six months and then you will be able to fall pregnant.”
Though they were both nervous, they became excited to embark on this journey together. “The major question you need to be asking is: ‘Am I ready to be a parent?’” she said. “The pregnancy is only 9 months but you’re going to be a parent for the rest of your life. It felt like we could
really well.”We’re sure they’re going to do an amazing job as parents!
